“This book is excellent and essential for parents!”

When it comes to exercise and fitness, starting young is essential if you want your children to enjoy an active lifestyle when they get older as well as ensuring that you children stay healthy. This book is a great guide that is designed to help both boys and girls from the ages of 7 to 17 lead a healthy lifestyle.

When it comes to exercise and fitness, starting young is essential if you want your children to enjoy an active lifestyle when they get older as well as ensuring that you children stay healthy. This book is a great guide that is designed to help both boys and girls from the ages of 7 to 17 lead a healthy lifestyle.

This book is aimed at parents rather than the children themselves and is packed with helpful advice. It would have been very easy for the author to make this into two separate books – one for boys and one for girls, but having it all in the same volume means that parents with both only need to buy one book. Of course all the information about a healthy lifestyle applies to both boys and girls, but the charts that are included (green for boys and red for girls) are very specifically tailored to the different genders.

Though this book is aimed at kids, there is an awful lot of information in this book that adults will also find useful, especially if they are still children at heart – after all, it is much more fun to play a parachute game to get into shape than it is to run on a treadmill for twenty minutes.

The tone of this book is extremely encouraging, it doesn’t condemn parents or children, but instead gives a lot of information about the benefits of healthy eating, overall fitness and exercise. The way the book is broken down into short sections and the bold headings make it really easy to search through the information to find answers to questions, advice on activities that will engage kids and ways in which parents can join in so that it doesn’t seem like the children are being put through an exercise regime, it becomes something that is part of their everyday life.

This book is excellent and essential for parents who want to encourage their children to be fitter and healthier.

“The beauty of the book is that it makes exercise fun!”

I have been a fan of the Canadian Airforce 5BX plan for years. I bought this book as it has adapted the plan for kids. With 10 grandchildren in the age range (7-17) I am going to have great fun getting them into shape.

The beauty of the book is that it makes exercise fun and with the progress charts the kids can really engage.

The exercise are so simple they don’t even realise they are doing ‘work’. Best buy.

“This book is definitely a must-read for all…”

Fit Kids is an excellent lifestyle guide for teachers of children aged 7 – 14 years old to encourage them to use the five-step fitness plan to raise their health. The BX fitness plans take the children through a range of exercises that can be completed around their term-time and extracurricular activities, require no extra equipment and don’t take more than 15 minutes a day.

The guide explains why fitness is important in children, what happens when we exercise and uses comprehensive language and terminology that can be read directly to the child. It explains how you can squeeze this fitness plan into the children’s lifestyle, whether it be part of their school assembly or as a task to complete before the schoolwork actually begins. One aspect I found particularly great about the book is that it includes a section for formal and informal play, which gives teachers ideas on how to include the fitness into the children’s routines in a fun way, disguised as games. The book then covers aerobic, strength and circuit training as well as monitoring health and progress, all whilst explaining in an easy-to-understand manner that again, can be read directly to the child.

Although the guide primarily talks about the exercises being carried out around school activities, it would also be helpful for parents to read the guide as the information given is invaluable to all. If you’re wanting to know more about children’s fitness and lifestyle in general, this book is definitely a must-read.

“It gets right to the point and doesn’t play around with the fluff.”

FIT KIDS is a guide to exercise and healthier living for kids between seven and seventeen years of age. It features tips on how to make exercising both fun and a part of daily life, detailed charts to keep your kids on track and monitor their progress, and image examples of dozens of exercises.

FIT KIDS is a guide to exercise and healthier living for kids between seven and seventeen years of age. It features tips on how to make exercising both fun and a part of daily life, detailed charts to keep your kids on track and monitor their progress, and image examples of dozens of exercises.

Most exercise books I read are full of jargon and huge commitments. As soon as I heard FIT KIDS offered a workout routine that would hit all the main points of the body in only 11 minutes – and for ages ranging seven years and up – I was waiting for the catch.

There’s only one: You have to stick with the routine for it to work.

No last minute “oh, actually, it’s 11 minutes for the first week – now it’s an hour!” No “you have to never eat chocolate again for it to work!” And absolutely no “get ready to run three miles in three minutes for it to work.”

You know who likes exercising? Not most adults, and not kids. Especially when the routines are complicated, exhausting, and take a decent chunk out of the day. This guide is meant for

kids, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out how perfectly suited it is for adults as well. It gets right to the point and doesn’t play around with the fluff.

My Favourite Parts

It didn’t talk down to me

Most dieting and exercising guides first take a decent amount of time telling you what a bad person you are and how you need to get off your butt. Exercise books aimed at kids make a good point of saying you’re a bad parent and your kids are doomed. FIT KIDS didn’t do this at all. I was really impressed by the writing style, which was very friendly and authoritative, and got right to the juicy details without a nice scolding first.

The workout routines were well explained and feature image examples

This book clearly put value on being detailed but easy to understand. Out of 163 pages, somewhere around 120 of them were simply image examples of exercise moves with a detailed summary on how to do it step-by-step.

Age-appropriate and diverse

As someone who’s always trying to get the kiddos to work out, nothing is harder than making exercises age-appropriate. Your seven year-old probably can’t do a push-up, let’s be honest. FIT KIDS has a complete chart on age-appropriate exercises, which upgrade weekly or by feedback from your kid – so with this book, you’re set up until the age of seventeen.

Tips on how to make exercising an easy part of life

This book spent whole chapters giving tips for making exercises a part of school-time and home-time, even making a list of childhood games and how exactly they benefit your kids’ health.

All-in-all: I recommend FIT KIDS as the first exercise guide that, not only I can commit to, but my kids as well. It takes no more than an hour to read, and then you have a complete guide to quick-reference for your routine. I’m super glad I bought this.

“Excellent fitness guide!”

This is an excellent children’s fitness book, aimed at the parents, teachers, coaches and carers who need to help children get fit, stay fit and develop a love of fitness.

This is an excellent children’s fitness book, aimed at the parents, teachers, coaches and carers who need to help children get fit, stay fit and develop a love of fitness.

The book is centred around the BX Fitness Plan, a dream scheme that tackles the obstacles of time and space. The plan recognises that not everyone (and especially not children) want to have to go to the gym everyday and use specialised equipment to stay healthy. The plan also recognises that time is a precious commodity. The BX Plan is only 11-12 minutes long and is guaranteed to improve endurance, flexibility and strength. It’s also undeniably fun, with the chance to chart progress and hit various targets!

This book is designed to complement the BX Fitness Plan by linking it closely to the school curriculum and detailing how families can get involved in their children’s fitness. The ultimate aim is ‘fit schools and fit families’, an especially important goal considering how physical health is closely tied to mental health and life expectancy.

Chock-full of information, this book manages to be both informative and fun. A series of introductory chapters pave the way for the BX Plan itself, with ideas for incorporating exercise into the school day, fun suggestions for informal play, and tips on how to eat healthily at home.

The BX Plan itself is beautifully explained. It’s a fairly complex system, but one that is handled expertly, with tips on how to complete the programme and progress to greater fitness levels. Each exercise is also explained clearly with instructions and step-by-step diagrams, which is very helpful for parents and teachers, who can now check if a child is performing an exercise correctly. There are different charts for boys and girls, as well as different goals for each age group, making this plan extremely versatile.

This is an inspiring and motivational guide that offers a solution to the sedentary lifestyle an increasing amount of children lead. With insights into the science behind it all, such as the effects and importance of exercise, this book is a useful source of information for everyone, not just parents and teachers, but also teenagers and even adults!

“The answer to my prayers!”

My kids hate the word “exercise”. It is a four letter word to them and if they had their way it would be banned in our household. But they don’t have it their way.

My kids hate the word “exercise”. It is a four letter word to them and if they had their way it would be banned in our household. But they don’t have it their way.

I was looking for a way to keep my kids physically active once school lets out for the summer and this book is the answer to my prayers.

The exercises are easy enough that I have convinced my kids they are worth doing, if for no other reason than to shut mommy up. Thanks to this book I know my kids will be healthy and strong after summer vacation is over.
